This postcard is another one in this series that addresses the history of Indians in the United States. In this postcard I am commenting on the development of former Indian land for tourist purposes and the exploitation of Indian culture, history and artifacts. I am alluding to the romanticization of Indians, as a way of reducing their intrinsic meaning and denying the tragedy of their treatment by a powerful government. Souvenirs are reduced reflections of history, and postcards easily fit into that category. However, in this series, I am interested in usurping that reduction and, instead, expanding it.
