Performance > Impostor #2

IMPOSTOR #2 is a durational, live performance that took place in April 2015 at the Performance Art Symposium in Kansas City. This work was inspired by the Impostor Syndrome and the fear of being found out as a fake. During my artist residency at Art Omi in 2014 I spoke with over twenty-five artists from all over the world. They all shared this fear.
For this two hour performance I wrote alternating lines on two adjacent walls: I AM A REAL ARTIST, I AM NOT AN IMPOSTOR. On every eighth line I picked up a megaphone and said the following, "I am a real artist, I am not an impostor". By the end of two hours, the walls were filled with text.
