Photography > My Family Memoir

I have had an ongoing interest in narrative, particularly how it is used to tell both formal and informal history. The images and text in my Family Memoir attempts to conveys the emotional truth of my family's history. In this ongoing project, I continue to explore how familial stories, popular culture and public history intersect. I examine how members of my family and extended family told the truth, created fabrictions, kept secrets, remained silent and sometimes were evasive, untruthful or deceptive. There are now close to 80 "posters", as this project grows as I obtain more images and information. This project has also been an effort to include history about the queer people in my family, since until now, much of this history has been minimized or omitted.
