In this video, the interviewer played by Judith G. Levy, speaks with the last, living relative of The Lone Ranger, who is both secretive and proud of her famous relative. I am interested in the way narratives of private and public history are constructed, and how memory reflects a mix of facts, invention and omission. This video is part of a series that reflects my interest in American history, culture and the elusive and explicit elements in how we understand who we are. I like to create collisions of the past and the present, and use humor, invented family trees, and the suspension of disbelief to create faux documentaries that address aspects of history that continue to trouble me.
